VH1 is currently in pre-production on the TLC biopic, which will tell the story of the once-popular 90's R&B group, but now I have some interesting casting news. Word on the street is that rapper Lil Mama, 23 will play Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, who passed away in a car crash in Honduras back in 2002.
While on the red carpet for the VIBE Impact Awards, rap legend MC Lyte spilled the T.
"I don't know if I'm supposed to say, but I will," she said to reporters. "She just got the role of Left Eye in TLC's new movie."
Lil Mama, who had a huge hit a few years back called Lip Gloss is also working on an upcoming female rappers' collaboration record with Lyte. Lil Mama was also a judge on the canceled MTV series, Randy Jackson's America's Best Dance Crew.
"I am so excited for her," she said. "She is a talented young lady. So I want to see her do some beautiful things."
Surviving TLC members Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas are serving as executive producers and consultants on the film project, but no word on who will play them.
The ramining members are also planning a new TLC album, with plans for a summer tour.
