KE$HA SPILLS THE TEA ON HER UPCOMING ALBUM
It's been two years since Ke$ha has invaded our speakers with her excellent Animal CD and Cannibal EP, and now the singer/songwriter/hot mess is ready to unleash the beast on her new album, slated to come out later this year.
Here are sme of the highlights from the Rolling Stone interview (via Idolator): She and Dr. Luke have worked on a whopping 17 songs for the album and they are all dance tracks. ”Crazy Kids” is the 2012 version of Cannibal‘s “We R Who We R”, and might wind up as Ke$ha’s next tattoo. “I have so many terrible tattoos,” she says (and she’s right). “Giving prison tattoos is, like, my favorite thing.”
There is a song on the album called “Die Young”, which features the lyrics, “I hear your heart beat to the beat of the drums… Oh, what a shame that you came here with someone.”
"Supernatural", a track we heard a few months back thanks to Dr. Luke, was based upon a road trip that included “a sensual experience with a ghost.”
”Last Goodbye” was inspired by Neil Young‘s 1974 tune “For The Turnstiles” and includes the lyric, “When I was broke, you bought me shoes.” She has collaborated with Iggy Pop, The Flaming Lips‘ Wayne Coyne, and the Black Keys‘ drummer Patrick Carney but it's not yet determined if their songs together will make the album's final cut.
And last but certainly not least, Ke$ha is well aware that her haters have tried to say that she's not the best singer, but she's ready to prove them wrong by showing more of a vulnerable side on the record. “Some people weren’t sure that I could sing. On this record, I said, ‘Let’s leave the tricks to a minimum and let me wail.”
I've seen Ke$ha in concert and she is a pretty good singer. Sure she uses a lot of stusdio tricks (who doesn't these days), but trust me the girl has skills and is a pretty good live performer. Now all I need to hear is some new music ASAP!
