Since Lauryn Hill is busy defending her friend Nicki Garbaj over the Hot 97 Summer Jam fiasco, this may be the time for her to hit her so-called buddy up for some money, or better yet start hitting the summer tour circuit.
According to The Associated Press, the eight-time Grammy winner has been charged with failing to file her taxes with the IRS. Federal prosecutors say that the singer earned more than $1.6 million from 2005-2007, but failed to file returns for those three years.
We all know Lauryn hasn't put out a proper album since she released her solo debut, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill back in 1998, and has spent most of the past decade making babies than making new music. But when you are receiving recording and film royalties, and run four corporations, you can afford to pay THE MAN his fare!
If the situation at hand isn't handled, the mother of six could face up to a year in prison and $100,000 on each charge. She is scheduled to appear before a federal magistrate on June 29.
