MAC Cosmetics has revealed that Lady Gaga is out and Nicki Minaj along with Ricky Martin are in as the new faces for their VIVA GLAM campaign, as you can see in the photo above shot by famed photographer David LaChapelle. Ricky is the third male singer to jump on board the ad campaign, with Elton John being the first to rep VIVA GLAM ten years ago and Boy George taking over in 2004. It also may have helped that Ricky came out last year, so he's obviously perfect for the campaign. So I guess this means there's only a matter of time before VIVA GLAM hires another glamour girl named Adam Lambert to lend his support once Ricky's contract expires. Minaj was chosen because her limited edition Pink Friday lipstick was a huge best seller.
Proceeds from any merchandise Minaj and Martin promote go towards the company’s MAC AIDS Fund. The foundation uses the monies raised to help with prevention, treatment and education of HIV and AIDS. Since the charity’s launch in 1994, an astonishing $224 million has been raised. No doubt, with Nicki and Ricky on board, that total will only rise. The $14 lipsticks dubbed Viva Glam Ricky and Viva Glam Nicki will go on sale in February with 100% of the proceeds going to fight HIV and AIDS.
