USHER STILL RANTING ABOUT THAT REV POP THING
Ever since Usher jumped on the watered-down dance music bandwagon and rode that wave to some much-needed album success, the R&B singer is acting like he's created a revolution in the dance community (ummm...you need to thank Kelly Rowland for bringing dance music back into the mainstream - although Gaga took it to a more cheesy, S Club 7 level). In a recent interview, he continued to rant about his new sound, which pretty much sounds like everything else every mainstream dance artist is doing to get a hit on the Billboard charts.
Says Usher, “I think this cultural sound is something that helps grow a lot of different forms of music: R&B, Soul, um… Neo-soul”.
Usher also stated that he plans to use this new "sound" as a way to create a movement in the mainstream dance community “Rev is more than just a sound: It’s a way of life; it’s a culture; it’s the way you dress; the way you wear your hair; an attitude you take. [It's] really an unapologetic attitude about how you live.”
“We’re gonna create more artists like that — more Rev artists, more of a Rev movement. You’ll start seeing the way people dress change, you’ll begin to see the way people wear their hair will change… In all forms of a revolutionary movement, it’s been that way. If you look at punk, if you look at rock — It was an attitude, more so than just a song. It might not have always been a very deep subject, it could have been very simple, but the attitude really makes it what it is.”
And last, but certainly not least he raved about the popular producers he worked with on his new dance movement: “Will.i.am did an incredible job [on "OMG"]. He’s one of the people that understands Rev. I think that Max and Luke understand Rev. I think that David Guetta understands Rev.”
Usher you need to sit your corny ass down. You know you are only jumping on the dance music bandwagon because no one bought your boring ass album you made around the time you were married to Maneka. Majority of those songs that came out like OMG were godawful (you can't tell me that track wasn't made specifically for a basketball half-time game). DJ's Got Us Falling In Love I will admit got me going because the beat got my hips shaking, but when you're out and about and the songs are beyond repetitive on the radio, you want to find the nearest bridge and jump. Usher has always come off like a poor man's Michael Jackson, and if you've been paying attention lately, clearly Chris Brown is better suited for the J.O.B. as Mr. Entertainment.
