TARGET RESPOND TO NIXED GAGA DEAL

Shortly after Lady Gaga dissolved her distribution relationship with Target due to their policies regarding LGBT issues, the family chain have finally come up with the money to hire come conservative to write a statement for them:

“We were very surprised and disappointed by the statements made by Lady Gaga’s organization related to her partnership with Target. Target remains committed to the LGBT community as demonstrated by our contributions to various LGBT organizations, our recently established Policy Committee to review our political giving and our respectful, inclusive workplace environment.”

Target spokeswoman Jessica Carlson said to the Washington Blade that Target had “a long history” of supporting the LGBT community through political giving, volunteerism and event sponsorship and even noted that the retail chain donated to Project 515, a Minnesota LGBT group, and this year many of their team members volunteered at Creating Change, an LGBT rights conference hosted by the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force."

I'm going to go with my first theory that Gaga dissolved her Target deal because she may have received a huge backlash due to her deal, since her sole platform has been exploiting highlighting the gay rights issue on TV shows, in her concerts or wherever she's able to have a platform. She knew of what went down in Minnesota and the backroom deals Target made endoursing an anti-gay polititian, so what caused her to nix the deal a month after signing on the dotted line? Gaga wants to be controversial, but continues to jump on issues for the fact that they are chic at the moment (like the gay issue) instead of taking on less sexy political topics, such as global warming, famine, the rise in sex trading and the liberation of Libya.
