RESIDENT EVIL 5 GETS A RELEASE DATE
This just in! Shocktillyoudrop is reporting that Screen Gems has set a date for the next chapter in the Resident Evil franchise. It's being reported that the presently untitled Resident Evil 5 will open on September 14, 2012.
There is no script as of yet, but I'm hearing that the film will continue moments after Resident Evil: Afterlife, presumably, where Alice (Milla Jovovich) K-Mart (Spencer Locke), Claire (Ali Larter) and her brother Chris Redfield (Wentworth Miller) and the survivors aboard Arcadia were trying to figure out how to get out of their conundrum with Umbrella, led by the now-villaness Jill Valentine.
I have no idea if Paul W.S. Anderson will return to direct (fingers crossed), but he'll most likely write the next film, as he's done with all the movies. There's also no word if the film will be shot in 3D like Afterlife.
I thoroughly enjoy all the RE films (with the exception of the third installment), and as long as Milla Jovovich is back to kick zombie ass and take names, count me in.
This news just broke, so stay tuned for more details as they come in.
