International superstar and gay icon Robbie Williams sat down for a radio interview, and expressed his deep love for the LGBT community, so much so that he said he wouldn't mind having a gay child of his own. In fact, he welcomed the idea wholeheartedly:
“I’d like to get it over and done with and get IVF. I want a gay one, we’ve talked about it and that’s what we want, whatever it is.”
“I genuinely don’t care [about the sex]. If it’s a guy I’m going to teach it to play footie and all of that stuff and if it’s a girl, I’m going to protect her to my death.”
I so yearn for the day when I run into Robbie Williams and beg for him to sit on my face, but I don't know how I feel about this comment. While I applaud a man who is open minded enough to love whatever child comes into this cruel world, I also wouldn't want to subject my child to a world where he/she will be ridiculed worse because of who they love. People have become inhumane beyond words. If my child does come out gay, then as a parent it will be good to be honest with them about how the world will be when they get older. The world has cruel moments, but it also has redeeming qualitites as well. I'm on both sides of the fence with this one.
