CHERYL COLE WORKING ON SOPHOMORE SOLO CD

It's only been three months since she released her debut album 3 Words, but instead of doing like every other artist and re-releasing the same album with new tracks, UK sensation Cheryl Cole has taken a page out of the Haus of Gaga playbook and is already hard at work with OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder on the follow-up.

After stating in countless interviews that she wasn't keen on trying to crack notoriously difficult American market with her music (her album has already sold in her native U.K.), she's working with American producers to craft out some pop tunes with US audiences in mind. Could it be that the rush on the album could be due to rumors circulating that Simon Cowell is trying to woo her as one of the judges on the U.S. edition of X Factor? Here is what Ryan had to say about Cheryl's new music:

“I got into England early on Saturday and went straight into the studio with Cheryl,” Ryan told the Daily Star. “We’re going to try and take the dance thing in a quirky new direction and make it a little more funky. I’m very excited about the tracks. I’m not going to turn her into something weird but it’s different to anything she’s done.

“Cheryl’s about as famous as J-Lo was in her heyday but she’s so nice and genuine. Cheryl said there are songs Americans can get away with and she can’t. It’s typical for a successful American female to put out a song about how famous or rich they are. But that’s not a British thing to do. Cheryl connects with being real and this is what the songs are about.”

After only releasing two singles (one being my favorite track 'Fight For this Love') Cheryl’s debut has already sold over 600k in the UK alone. She's set to drop third single “Parachute” another funky dance jam that's set to burn up the charts.

While I am happy for Cheryl's success over in the U.K., and I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for her getting a gig on X Factor next year, 3 Words failed to live up to the hype. i just hope this time around whomever she works with to crack the US music market blesses her with a solid body of pop gems to release for a hotter record. I was so disappointed in what the overrated Will.I.Am called himself producing for her record.
